Memorial Day at Patriot Plaza
Starts at 11 a.m. at Patriot Plaza at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72. A program honoring America’s fallen soldiers and their families will take place with special guests and dignitaries. Visitors can bring lawn chairs if they prefer seating with a back. Sailors and Sandals
Runs from 7 to 11 p.m. at Sarasota Sailing Squadron, 1717 Ken Thompson Parkway. The event will benefit Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County, which helps low-income and at-risk students gain the help they need to achieve an education. Cost is $75. Call 266-6231.

Sarasota Memorial Day Parade
Starts at 10 a.m. on Main Street and Osprey Avenue. The parade continues west along Main Street to Chaplain J.D. Hamel Park on Gulfstream Avenue. Marching units will include veterans service organizations, law enforcement agencies, fire departments and their color guards, civic organizations, high school bands and ROTC units. Admission is free.
Memorial Day at Sarasota Jungle Gardens
Runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sarasota Jungle Gardens, 3701 Bay Shore Road. U.S. armed forces members will be honored. Veterans and active-duty military receive free admission with valid ID and the purchase of one adult or child’s regularly priced, same-day admission. Admission is free for children 3 and under; $10.99 for ages 4 to 16; $15.99 for adults; and $14.99 for seniors. Visit sarasotajunglegardens.com.
Salute to Veterans
Runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at Phillippi Estate Park, 5500 S. Tamiami Trail. Bring your lawn chairs and pull up a seat for a special concert to remember veterans on Memorial Day. Food and drink vendors will be present. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 16 and under. Visit scgov.net.

World Oceans Day
Runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mote Marine Aquarium, 1600 Ken Thompson Parkway. With the theme “Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet,” the festival will include games and crafts focused on green practices, marine science and conservation. Cost is free with a regular paid admission ticket. Call 388-4441.
