Got A Minute? 60-Second Play Festival

The Players Centre for Performing Arts hosts this collection of 60 one-minute plays to raise money for cancer research and treatment. All proceeds benefit American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Rob's Rescue Foundation and one of the Players' own employees, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

‘The Velveteen Rabbit’

Kicking off Florida Studio Theatre's inaugural Children's Theater series is this timeless tale of a toy rabbit that longs to become real. Designed to spark audiences' imaginations, the shows sees the actors and their simple props transform a variety of fantastical items. Additional performance Dec. 23.

 

Cigar Box Festival with Justin Johnson

Musician Justin Johnson has made a name for himself playing the cigar box guitar and other unusual homemade instruments, including guitars made from shovels. Known for his musicianship and dedication to roots music, Johnson will perform in Sarasota as part of this festival dedicated to cigar box guitars.

Comedian Daniel Tosh, host and producer of the Comedy Central television series "Tosh.0," will perform two sets at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall as part of his sixth annual "Tosh Saves the World Charity Show" tour. Special guests include Todd Glass, Greg Hahn and Eddie Gossling.

Key Chorale presents this holiday concert dedicated to music of the French Baroque and Marc-Antoine Charpentier, the most important composer of his generation during the reign of Louis XIV. Although he composed more than 550 works, much of his material laid forgotten until a historical revival in the 1980s.
