Leonard Bowen Sr.
Leonard Bowen Sr., 90, of Hudson, Mass., died Oct. 2. He was born Sept. 25, 1926 to the late James and Catherine Bowen.
He graduated in the class of 1944 from Hudson High School, where he played hockey and baseball. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a seaman first class aboard the USS-ABSD-6. He received the World War II Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Medal.
Mr. Bowen began dating his future wife, Jean Bowen, shortly thereafter. The two married in 1956 and spent their days perfecting the jitterbug.
Mr. Bowen was town assessor for Hudson for 25 years and founded Hudson Youth Hockey. In recognition of his more than 25 years of service to the town he was awarded Official Citations by both the Massachusetts House and Senate in 1981. In 1966 he began coaching hockey to Worcester Polytechnic Institute and was actively involved in his sons and grandkids sports teams. He worked at the Lamson Lumber Company for 36 years, retiring in 1986.
Upon his retirement, Leonard and Jean spent their winters on Longboat Key and summers on Hampton Beach.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean; brother P. Bowen Jr.; and sister Eileen Mills. He is survived by sons Leonard Bowen Jr., Thomas Bowen, Brian Bowen, Robert Bowen and their wives; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Roberta Durzo
Roberta Durzo, 67, of Longboat Key, died Oct. 8. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh to Samuel Morante and Stella Bell and was a Longboat resident for the past 25 years.
She loved vacationing with her husband, Carmine Durzo, daughters and granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, John Bell. She is survived by her husband, daughters Laura Indovina Bendtsen and Debra Indovina Akerley; their spouses; sister Helen Tortorete; and four grandchildren.
Michael Giordano
Michael Giordano, 51, died Oct. 18. He was born April 5, 1965 to Samuel and Carmela Giordano.
He managed his own lawn care businesses and was the grounds supervisor at the Beach Harbor Club for 21 years. He will be remembered for his wit and charm throughout the community. He is survived by his wife, Rita, and daughter, Gabriella.
Alfred Wolkenberg
Alfred Wolkenberg, 92, of Lido Beach and Long Island N.Y.., died Oct. 18.
He graduated from Long Island University and Brooklyn Law School and was a practicing attorney for 60 years. He was a World War II veteran and was a past president of the Long Beach Lawyers Association. He was a member of Temple Beth Israel on Longboat Key.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gilbert. He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Joey; daughter, Carol Wagner; their spouses; two grandchildren; siblings Joan Biller and Barbara Solomon; and nieces and nephews.
