Dispute: A hospitality worker reported that a man walked into the lobby and was eating food intended for guests currently renting a room. Confronted by a staffer, the man said although he wasn’t a guest of the hotel, he was a guest of Sarasota. The man left the area before police arrived.
Food Fight
3:41 p.m. — 3500 block of Fruitville Road
Trespassing: A fast-food restaurant manager reported that a man was standing in the drive-thru lane and causing a disturbance. The man told officers he wouldn’t move because he was hungry and didn’t know where he should go. The man refused help from the officer and left the area.
Keep on Truckin’
9:32 p.m. — 600 block of South Tuttle Avenue
Property Damage: A man reported that he saw the driver of a silver pick-up truck crash into a sign in a median, then park at a nearby residence with a flat tire. Officers were unable to remove the sign from the roadway because it was stuck in the cement. Police were not able to find the address referenced by the caller or a vehicle that matched the description.
Fight or Flight
2:09 a.m. — 1400 block of Main Street
Fight: A man flagged down police to report that he thought a fight was about to happen at a downtown bar. Officers arrived and found no sign of a commotion. The man refused to give his name or fill out a report, and immediately left the area.
Bad Dog
4:27 a.m. — 1500 block of 22nd Street
Animal Problem: A woman reported that a dog had walked up to her and bit her on the foot. She tried to kick the dog away, and it ran off. Officers were unable to photograph the woman’s injuries because she had wrapped her foot.
Keep it Down
11:33 p.m. — 1200 block of 21st Street
Noise Complaint: Police responded to reports of a loud house party, and officers asked several individuals at the home to lower the music volume. Police parked around the corner from the property, and after a few minutes, the music was once again turned up and partygoers began yelling. Officers immediately shut down the party and stayed at the property until everyone left.
