JP Morgan Chase wants permission from the Longboat Key Planning and Zoning Board to construct a 3,113-square-foot bank and office building.
The new office building would be in the Shoppes of Bay Isles center at 545 Bay Isles Parkway.
“It’s pretty straightforward,” said Longboat Key planner Steve Schield. “It was part of the site plan originally approved three years ago. They are just getting around to building it.”
A public hearing on the proposal will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 20 at the Longboat Key Town Commission chambers, 501 Bay Isles Road.

Property owner JP Morgan Chase has requested a site plan amendment to allow the building, drive-thru, parking and associated stormwater collection system. The site plan has shrunk from the original proposal of nearly 4,000 feet, Schield said, to little more than 3,000 feet.
“There’s not really any hurdles,” Schield said. “This was always planned on an outparcel.”
The proposal and related materials can be viewed at the Planning, Zoning & Building Department, 501 Bay Isles Road, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays before the hearing.
The Longboat Key Town Commission will be asked to give final approval if the project advances through the planning process.
