After a banner year of celebrating its 60th anniversary, the Longboat Library has closed the chapter on another season.
On April 8, library volunteers gathered for an end-of-season luncheon at The Chart House. Before the group could enjoy lunch, they voted in new officers. Later, local freelance writer and author Amy Elder spoke to the group about her new book “Images of America: Sarasota County Islands and Beaches.” The book explores the history of Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Casey Key, Venice and Manasota Key.
The Longboat Library will be open throughout the summer but has adjusted hours. Summer hours run from 9 a.m. to noon May 1 to October 31. Wonderful Wednesday book sales will continue as well, and volunteer training will be available. New books will continue to be ordered, and a list of them can be found on longboatlibrary.org.
