When Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium biologist Andrew Angelo put the scuba gear on Mikayla Kelly, a look of shock came across her face.
It was heavier than she thought, she told her fellow campers.
When Angelo lifted the gear off of Kelly, she looked relieved.
It was like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders she told campers.
Kelly was just one of the 13 campers enrolled in Marine Careers summer camp at Mote this week.
Throughout the week, the campers learned about various marine careers. On Aug. 2, they learned about being an aquarium biologist. Before learning about scuba diving from Angelo, the campers had the chance to feed turtles.
Next, they were going to watch biologists in the shark tank and then finish the day exploring Sarasota Bay.
