1 — The Out-of-Door Academy freshman Saraiah Walkes finished second in the 14-year-old girls 200-meter dash (24.71 seconds) at the AAU Junior Olympic Games on Aug. 1 in Ypsilanti, Mich.
2 — The Lakewood Ranch-based 14U Tampa Mustangs travel softball team finished fifth at the Premier Girls Fastpitch Nationals on Aug. 5 in Irvine, Calif.
3 — Braden River High graduate Ryan Walker, a sophomore at Drury University, was named a College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American on July 19.
4 — Nick Balde was named the Braden River High wrestling coach on Aug. 5. Balde was previously the wrestling coach at Southeast High.
5 — Former Lakewood Ranch pitcher Seth McGarry recorded his first save with the A-level Clearwater Threshers in a 3-1 win Aug. 3 against Palm Beach. McGarry was traded from the Pittsburgh Pirates organization to the Philadelphia Phillies on July 31.
