Sarasota's Jesse Biter was elected chairman of the Florida Sports Foundation board by a unanimous vote.
Biter, an entrepreneur, will see his term run through June 30, 2018.
"I have been very impressed by the Florida Sports Foundation's work to date and its support of the state’s $57 billion sports industry,” Biter said in a release. “Together with the FSF staff, the board will continue to assist Florida communities secure, host and retain sporting events that generate significant impact through sports-related tourism and create jobs."
The Florida Sports Foundation is a 501(C) 3 non-profit corporation, serving as the Sports Industry Development Division of Enterprise Florida, Inc. Per its website, it assists Florida’s communities with securing, hosting and retaining sporting events and sports-related businesses that generate significant economic impact and sports-related tourism, including the Sunshine State Games and the Florida Senior Games.
