Feb. 1

FAKE LANDLORD PULLS SCAM

2900 block of 53rd Avenue East, Bradenton

Fraud: A man called the Sheriff's Office to report he had been duped by a person pretending to be the owner of a home for rent. The man met with the fake owner and eventually agreed to send him $900 by a store money transfer. Eventually, the man discovered the other man was not the owner of the property. An investigation continues.

Feb. 3

ARREST WAS VIRTUAL REALITY

12000 block of 23rd Street East, Parrish

Burlary: Two juveniles walking home from school observed a person standing next to a home and another person climbing out of a side window of the home. They walked away with a video game console. The juveniles notified the Sheriff's Department. Deputies responded to the area and one of the witnesses knew the subjects and attempted to show the deputies where they lived. They then noticed the two subjects walking and pointed them out. The deputies detained the subjects and then contacted the victim and confirmed the burglary. The subjects were transported to Manatee County Jail and the Juvenile Booking Facility respectively.

CAN'T COUNT ON IT

6400 block of State Road 64 East, Bradenton

Information Only: A woman called the Sheriff's Office after she and a friend came into a convenience store, her friend selected some items, then paid for the items with a $100 bill. They collected their change, then went to the parking lot where they counted their change.They went back inside to the clerk and told him he had shorted them $10. He gave them a $10 bill and they left. It wasn't long before they came back into the store, saying he actually had underpaid them by $20.  The clerk refused to give them another $10 so they called the Sheriff's Office. The clerk told a deputy he had given them the right amount of change and they continued to come back asking another another $10. The women agreed to wait until the close of business day to see if the register was $10 over. A case card was issued.

NO ONE CASHED OUT

7200 block of 55th Avenue East, Bradenton

Found Property: In the pharmacy area of a supermarket, a man found $60 in cash, then took it to the store's service desk. The store's employee waited until the store closed, but no one claimed the money. The employee called the Sheriff's Office and a deputy took custody of the $60 and placed it into property and evidence.
