ENTER YARD, TAKE METER

Lena Road at State Road 64, Bradenton

Petit theft: A man came to the Sheriff's Office to report a water meter had been taken from his job site. The man rented the water meter for his company from Manatee County Utilities. The meter weighs approximately 60 pounds and has to be unscrewed from the fire hydrant with a wrench. The job site had no surveillance video. It was valued at $200.

LIQUOR CLEANED OUT

12000 block of Malachite Drive, Bradenton

Theft: A cleaning couple was working at a local golf club and apparently, six individuals were waiting for them to leave the building. Surveillance tapes showed that five minutes after they left the building, six individuals entered the golf club with their faces covered with towels and sheets. The suspects took 12 bottles of liquor from the bar, six beers from the refrigerator and a case of candy bars. The suspects fled.

DRIVER HAS MENTAL BLOCK

8600 block of State Road 70 East, Bradenton

Driving without a license: A man was exiting Interstate 75 and was headed down the exit at State Road 70 when he stopped for the light. The light changed to green but the man didn't move, One car behind him was a Sheriff's Office deputy and another vehicle back was an East Manatee Fire engine. Several seconds passed and the man did not move his car. Eventually people started honking horns and the fire engine sounded its air horn, but the man still didn't move. When the fire engine pulled around him, the man finally moved, and was pulled over by a deputy. The man did not have a valid driver's license and was taken into custory for driving without a license and blocking traffic.

DEPUTIES ARRIVE, PARTY'S OVER

500 block of Rye Road, Bradenton

Information only: Sheriff's Office deputies answered a call in reference to a possible party with an estimated 100 people at an abandoned residence. Upon arrival, the deputies observed 10 people walking away from the house in the driveway to leave. When deputies arrived at the front door, approximately 30 people fled from the house toward the west and another 30 people fled to the east, jumping a wooden fence. As the deputies attempted to clear the residence, they heard approximately 10 shots fired in the direction of the driveway. They heard another three shots as they retrieved their shotguns from the car. After backup arrived, the deputies swept the driveway and approximately six feet into the brush that lined it, but found no casings. The deputies then made sure the home was empty. The house was in a destroyed state with broken windows, doors, mirrors and cabinets. No information about the home was available since it was owned by a bank.
