1 — Former Braden River pitcher Tyler Dyson and his University of Florida teammates won the 2017 NCAA College World Series on June 27, beating LSU in two games. Dyson pitched six innings in the decisive game, allowing one run on three hits and earning the win. It is the Gators’ first CWS title in school history.
2 — Sue Ertl, University Park Country Club’s head teaching professional, won the Senior Division title at the 2017 Ohio Women’s Open on June 13, shooting a two-round score of 148 (73 and 75).
3 — The Lakewood Ranch boys basketball team went 8-0 and won the top-division championship on June 25 at the Eckerd College team camp.
4 — John Fricke sank a hole-in-one on the 16th hole at University Park Country Club on June 24. Fricke used a 5-wood on the 159-yard hole.
5 — Braden River's Kate Walker, who will be a sophomore next semester, took 11th place in the girls 100 breaststroke at the 2017 Sarasota Sharks Open on June 23.
