1 — Former Cardinal Mooney boys basketball player Antonio Blakeney was signed to the Chicago Bulls’ summer league roster on June 26.

2 — Booker High named Shantia Grace its girls basketball coach. Grace is the all-time leading scorer, regardless of gender, at Riverview (2,446 points) and holds the all-time assist record at University of South Florida (610).

3 — Recent Sarasota High football graduate JaQuan Johnson announced June 25 that he will play for Campbellsville (Ky.) University in the fall.  

4 — Sarasota’s Jacqueline Putrino finished 15th in the Florida State Golf Association’s Girls Junior Championships, age 13-15 division, on June 30, her 13th birthday. She shot 11-over-par for the tournament (78-76-73), held at The Oaks Club in Osprey.

5 — The Miss GEICO team won the Extreme division title at the 33rd-annual Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix on July 2.
