If you pour it they, the will come — at least that was the logic at Temple Emanu-El's annual outreach wine tasting on July 11 at the Fresh Start Cafe.
The event gives potential members an opportunity to mingle with temple congregants while sampling Israeli wines.
"This is just about having some fun and meeting some new people," Rabbi Michael Shefrin said to guests.
Shefrin took tasters on a journey through Jewish history during the tasting, using each wine as an anchor. There was just one minor hurdle.
"I feel like I am an expert in various things, but wine is not one of them," Shefrin joked.
Luckily Temple Emanu-El member Bill Haiby was behind the bar to offer some context.
"None of this gets done alone," Shefrin said. "So if you are looking for people to do things with, (Temple Emanu-El) is a wonderful place to be a part of."
