University Park offers teen golf camp

University Park County Club will hold a Summer Teen Golf Camp on Aug. 1-3 for area youths looking to hone their skills. 

Per a release from the club, the camp will feature rules, etiquette and respect for the game; short game techniques, fitness instruction and how to warm up and down correctly with fitness instructor Sue Marillier; fundamentals of stance and alignment; ball position, posture and grip; pitching technique; scoring shots; learning good practice habits; video analysis and a daily forum question and answer session. 

On Aug. 3, campers will be treated to lunch at The Park Grille and Cafe, and 18 holes of golf at the club.

The times for each day of the camp are as follows: Aug. 1, 8:45 to 11:15 a.m.; Aug. 2 – 9 to 11:30 a.m.; Aug. 3: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

The camp is open to kids 13-18. Clinton Whitelaw, the club's assistant golf pro and a former South African Open champion, will be the camp's main instructor. 

The camp costs $199 per student. Advance registration is required and space is limited. To register or for more information, call the Pro Shop at 355-3888 ext. 236, or email Whitelaw at [email protected]. You can also register in person at the Pro Shop.
