Former Cardinal Mooney volleyball assistant and Riverview volleyball head coach Joe Rohr died in his sleep July 17 in Arizona.

Rohr coached the Rams from 2014-2015, and previously helped his wife, Kristen Batt, coach the Cougars.

Rohr and Batt both coached at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix last season.

Before becoming a coach, Rohr played professionally on the AVP Tour, among other professional leagues.

Grand Canyon posted the following message on its website:

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Assistant Beach Volleyball Coach Joseph Rohr. Joe was a high-energy, passionate and dedicated coach. He is also the husband of Head Beach Volleyball Coach Kristen Rohr. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rohr family during this difficult time."
