A man is in police custody for stabbing someone outside of the Beach Club on Siesta Key after an argument, according to a release from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

On July 20, an argument occurred between the victim and two men. No physical altercation took place at that time, but the two men knocked over the victim's drink.

Shortly after 2 a.m. that night, the victim was confronted in the parking lot by one of the men, who hit him in the face and used a knife to stab him in the back, the report states.

The victim drove himself to the emergency room, where he was treated for a stab wound to the lower left side of his back that required surgery and staples, according to the report. He identified the suspect as 24-year-old Andreas Leonardo Montilla-Monsalve during a photo lineup.

Police also obtained security footage that showed Montilla-Monsalve following this victim in the parking lot.

Montilla-Monsalve was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He remains in jail on $75,000 bond.
