1 — Sarasota High baseball rising senior Ben McCabe verbally committed to the University of Central Florida on July 19.

2 — Former Riverview wide receiver Richie James, now at Middle Tennessee, was named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List (“most versatile player”) on July 17.

3 — Recent Riverview graduate Antoine Sanchez reached the quarterfinals of the USTA Boys' 18 and 16 National Clay Court Championships singles tournament on July 19, beating Karl Poling 6-2, 6-3.

4 — Former Sarasota baseball player Danny Mars played in the Eastern League All-Star Game on July 12, representing the AA Pawtucket Red Sox.

5 — CBA United, an AAU basketball team featuring Sarasota High players, finished 3-1 at the On The Radar Super Six Showcase at Emory University on July 21-23.
