+ Gullett hires G-man

Todd Richardson became B.D. Gullett Elementary School's new principal July 31, taking over for Dr. Shirin

Gibson, who transferred to director of research and assessment at the district's Professional Support Center.

After serving as H. S. Moody Elementary School's principal for the past seven years, Richardson said he was excited about becoming a Gator (the school's mascot).

"I have been a Gators fan for my whole life," Richardson said. "But I never went to the University of Florida. So now I get to be a Gator and I don't even have to pay tuition."

+ Book club fun

Heritage Harbour’s Johnathan and Brody Rose won't know until Sept. 30 how this chapter is going to end.

That's when they will find out whether they have won a Kindle Paperwhite from the Braden River Library. They became eligible for the grand prize when they signed up for a library card during the Library Card Campaign.

Children ages 12-18 are eligible for the contest through Sept. 30. The Kindle is the first-place award while second place will be a book prize package.
