BOSSY, AND ARRESTED

2600 39th Street East, Bradenton

Driving without a license, unregistered motor vehicle: A deputy was driving southbound on 39th Street when he saw a gray pickup with no tag. When he stopped the vehicle, the man driving said he was free to travel without a registration. The deputy asked if the man had a driver's license and the man said "no." He also said he had no photo identification. The man said he didn't have to give his name and that he shouldn't have been interrupted while driving. The deputy asked the man to step out of the car and the man said, "You can't treat me like a criminal." He continued to refuse to identify himself until the deputy said he was going to be arrested unless he provided his name in five seconds. He then provided a name and presented a learner's permit that was suspended six years ago. The vehicle was towed and the man was taken to jail.

SERVICE WITHOUT A SMILE

3000 block of University Parkway, Sarasota

Information only: A woman was having drinks at the bar of a restaurant when she said something that enraged the female bartender. The bartender began screaming at the woman and slammed a glass on the bar in front of where the woman was sitting. The glass shattered and shards hit the woman's left elbow, causing a minor cut. A deputy arrived to find the woman's cut had been bandaged by the restaurant's staff. The bartender already had been terminated by the time the deputy arrived. After viewing surveillance footage, the deputy said it was clear the bartender did not intend to hit the woman with the glass, and did not involved criminal intent. The woman did not want the bartender to be terminated but was upset with the way she was treated. The restaurant's management was given a case number.
