12:59 p.m. — 600 block of Dream Island Road
Disturbance: A woman called police to report that her property manager had entered her home after she told her homeowners’ association she didn’t want him to. The man told officers he had to go into the home to inspect the property. Police told the woman it was a civil issue and needed to be take care of through the court system.
Friends With Benefits
2:43 p.m. — 800 block of Broadway
Suspicious circumstance: Police responded to reports about a group of men fishing off of a private dock on a construction site. Upon arrival, the fishermen told police they were friends with the new owner of the property, which officers confirmed.
Phone Home
9:21 p.m. — 400 block of GMD
Lost property: A man called police to report that he had left his phone at a restaurant earlier that evening, and a computer application indicated it was now in someone’s home. Officers went to the house, and the owner said he had not been to the restaurant all year. Police searched the house, and noted none of the vehicles in the driveway appeared to have been used recently.

Thawed Out
4:44 p.m. — 4400 block of GMD
Dumping: Officers responded to reports of an old freezer washing up on the beach. Police found the freezer, and moved it up the shoreline so it would not get washed out to sea again.
Setting the Mood
8:20 p.m. — 300 block of North Shore Road
Disturbance: A woman called police to report that while doing yoga on a dock, she placed her baseball hat on one of the lights to make the night darker. A neighbor took a picture of the hat, and the two got into a brief argument. The man told police he thought the woman was trying to damage the light with her hat and wanted to document the incident.

Phone Scam
1:33 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Suspicious circumstance: A woman walked into the police station to report receiving a suspicious phone call. She told officers someone had called her claiming to be her grandson and needed money after being in an accident. The woman later called her grandson who said he was fine.
Feb. 23
Village Vandals
6:51 p.m. — 300 block of North Shore Road
Vandalism: A woman called police to report that someone had spray painted several light covers on the property causing about $200 in damage. Residents had already replaced the damaged covers, so officers were unable to collect evidence.

Getting’ Down
10:44 p.m. — 2100 block of GMD
Noise disturbance: Officers arrived at a house following reports of a loud party. Upon arrival, police noted loud music from a DJ playing through a PA system. The partygoers said they were celebrating a family member’s 70th birthday. Police asked them to unplug the sound system.

Building Bully
8:45 p.m. — 1000 block of Longboat Club Road
Disturbance: A woman called police to report altercations with a neighbor. She told officers a man confronted her and shouted “you’re a liar,” several times, during which she didn’t make eye contact and left the area. Later, the man was in the hallway with his German shepherd and demanded she take the stairs. Police told the woman to contact the Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court to receive a restraining order.
