East County High 5 Moments: 03.01.17

1 — Lakewood Ranch girls basketball senior LaDazhia Williams was named the Class 8A Player of the Year and the Senior All-Star MVP by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, as part of the association’s district awards.

2 — Lakewood Ranch freshman softball player Avery Goelz went 3-4 with a double, a solo home run and a grand slam Feb. 23 in the Mustangs’ 10-0 win over Manatee.

3 — Sondra Ettlinger, Kathryn Lawrence, Candice Miller and Sheila Cook won the Ladies Golf Association four-member best ball event at University Park Country Club on Feb. 25, shooting a combined 249.

4 — The Lakewood Ranch Chargers U11 girls soccer team took the silver medal Feb. 18 at the Disney President's Day Soccer Festival in Orlando.

5 — The Out-of-Door Academy baseball junior Alex DiMare went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Feb. 24 in the Thunder’s 6-4 win over Cape Coral.
