The halls of The Lake Club’s Grand Clubhouse transformed into a scene from the roaring ‘20s March 11, with ladies in flapper dresses and high heels and men in suits and fedoras or cop costumes. East County residents enjoyed an open bar, cocktails, food stations, “gambling,” a cigar bar and other “Prohibition Party” themed festivities as part of the The Guys and Molls fundraiser benefiting A Life Story Foundation. The nonprofit aims to raise awareness and create action to discover effective treatments, and ultimately a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness, paralysis, and, ultimately, respiratory failure.
