All it took was a stroll through a white curtained-tunnel of balloons to transport guests at the 2017 Banyan Ball to the roaring ‘20s.
The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota was transformed into the scene of a Gatsby-esque soiree on March 11, complete with ostrich-feather centerpieces and a vintage jaguar in the ballroom lobby. Guests enjoyed their Banyan Punch and The 1924 aperitifs during cocktail hour while perusing the silent auction items available for bidding — all of which were pieces of art created by students from The Out-Of-Door Academy.
Once they adjourned to the ballroom for dinner, the 390 guests were welcomed by Head of School David Mahler, who took the opportunity to honor Chairs Jennifer and Larry Fox along with ODA teacher Ms. Joanna Johnson for her 25 years of service to the school.
Event-goers enjoyed dinner, bid on several live auction items and busted some moves on the dance floor in a dreamy F. Scott Fitzgerald-style ending to the glamorous evening.
