The town of Longboat Key opened its doors March 24 to visitors old and young.
The annual Longboat Key Community Open House, held at the north fire station, was complete with facility tours, fire trucks and rescue boats, special visitors from Save our Seabirds and booths from every town department.
Town organizations, such as the Longboat Key Garden Club, Turtle Watch, Rotary Club and Longboat Library were present as well.
Susan Phillips, assistant to the town manager, said the event shows residents what the town has to offer.
Firefighters were on hand to show people the ropes of the fire trucks. Youngsters even got free firemen hats to take home.
