While enjoying a day on the beach Sept. 25, Carl Lowe and Ann Anderson got a surprise visitor.

The pair was sitting on the beach near the path for residents of Spanish Main Yacht Club when Lowe looked to his right and saw, about 60 feet away, either a black tip or spinner shark on the sand.

Lowe said the shark, which he estimates was about 7 or 8 feet long, was visible for about 3 minutes before heading back into the Gulf of Mexico. Lowe said he and Anderson saw another fin sticking out of the water a distance away from shore, as well.
