Sarasota football roundup: 10.06.17

Cardinal Mooney punched above its weight Friday night, and almost came out victorious.

The Class 3A school traveled to Class 5A Southeast High, and fell to the Seminoles 35-31. Cardinal Mooney was once down 21-0 but rallied to make it a game. Bryce Williams once again provided the Cougars' biggest highlight, a 57-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. 

Riverview High had no trouble with Newsome High, beating the Wolves 57-3. 

Booker High was off Friday night. The Tornadoes will go on the road to DeSoto County High on Oct. 13. 

Sarasota High also had a bye week. The Sailors next play Braden River High on Oct. 13.
