Guys and ghouls of all ages carved into Halloween weekend on Oct. 28.
From grandmas to sumo wrestlers, and even an appearance from Goose and Maverick from “Top Gun,” all kinds of characters visited The Resort at Longboat Key Club’s Tavern porch Saturday morning for a ghostly celebration.
After enjoying a buffet lunch, the families decorated Halloween cookies and carved pumpkins.
While pumpkin carving instructions were available, some kids took creativity into their own hands.
“I tried the hard one, a big scene with a cat,” Ava O’Hara said. “But I did a classic pumpkin and I’m writing ‘happy’ on the side."
Following decorating and carving, kids enjoyed dessert and got goody bags to take home. The best costume was awarded to one boy and one girl, who each got to take home balloons.
