Cops Corner: Sheriff's Office looks for missing bulldozer

THIEF MIGHT HAVE BEEN TOO GREEDY

8300 block Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota

Petit theft: A department store security employee observed a woman enter the store and begin selecting items, which she put into her cart. She then proceeded to the self-checkout, where she scanned three of the items, but not the other 23 items. The suspect paid for the three items, then left the store. The security employee followed the woman into the parking lot of retrieved the merchandise, then identified the suspect by her Driver's License. The Sheriff's Office received a detained incident report.

Oct. 22

DRIVEWAY NOT PLACE TO STORE ELECTRONICS

7800 block of Ontario Street Circle, Sarasota

Grand theft: A man and his wife were moving items from their storage unit to their new home. As they left their home to return to the storage unit, they left several items, including a 20-inch flat screen Emerson TV and a DVX system, sitting in the driveway. They were gone approximately 30 minutes, and when they returned, the items were gone. The items were estimated to be worth $5,200.

TIME TO BUILD A CASE

11000 block of Rangeland Parkway, Bradenton

Grand theft: The Sheriff's Office was contacted because of a theft of a Cat Bulldozer. Sheriff's Office deputies arrived to speak with the owner who said his bulldozer disappeared during the night as it was parked at a construction site. A case number was issued.

JUNK PILED BEHIND THE TRUNK

 6400 block of Glen Abbey Lane, Bradenton

Information only: A Sheriff's Office deputy was dispatched when a man called to report a disturbance. Upon arriving, the deputy was told by a man that another man had piled debris against the side of the first man's car.  The first man said the other man admitted pilling the debris against the first man's car because he felt the first man had purposely parked his car against the pile of debris so it could not be picked up by the county. Both men said this has been an ongoing issue about where they park their vehicles. The deputy advised both men that there was no parking violation because both men had been parking legally. Due to their ongoing dispute, the deputy documented the incident.

PICK UP YOUR PURSE AT SHERIFF'S OFFICE, ANYTIME

8300 Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota

Found Property: A department store security officer called the Sheriff's Office to report he was interviewing a woman about property she was suspected of stealing when she fled the store, leaving her purse and its contents behind. The store's property was all recovered and no charges are being made against the woman. The purse and its contents were collected and put into property and evidence.
