East County district swimming results

Each area school had individual event winners.

In the first postseason swim meet of the season, all three area schools found success. 

Braden River High's boys and girls teams both finished third out of 14 teams in its district.

Sophomore Kate Walker won the girls 50 freestyle (25.41) and swam the first leg of the girls 200 freestyle relay, which the Pirates won (1:47.59). Walker also finished second in the girls 100 breaststroke (1:09.33). Freshman Payton Lewandrowski took third in the girls 500 freestyle (5:33.94).

On the boys side, Pirates sophomore Sebastian Mejia finished third in the 100 backstroke (1:00.96), and the 200 medley (1:49.80) and 400 freestyle (3:45.82) relay teams both finished second. 

The Lakewood Ranch High girls team finished fifth in its district, while the boys finished sixth.

The girls 200 medley relay team finished second (1:52.20) and the girls 400 freestyle relay team finished third (3:39.68). Sophomore Emily Massengale won the girls 100 backstroke (57.70) and finished third in the girls 200 individual medley (1:01.49). Sophomore Katelynn Coons won the girls 50 freestyle (24.91). 

Mustangs junior Sebastian Aguirre won the boys 100 butterfly (52.52)

The Out-of-Door Academy boys team finished third in its district and the Thunder girls finished sixth. 

The boys 200 medley relay team took first place (1:44.26) as did senior Martin Baffico in the boys 100 butterfly (51.60) and 100 backstroke (53.32), and junior Sarsen Whatmore in the boys 500 freestyle (4:42.35). Whatmore also finished second in the boys 200 freestyle (1:45.46). Junior Zach Szmania finished second in the boys 100 breaststroke (1:02.92) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:02.89).  The boys 400 freestyle relay team also finished third (3:21.41). 

Freshman Reece Whatmore finished second in the girls 200 individual medley (2:20.79) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:23.58).
