From his seat at the end of the table, GreyHawk Landing’s Millard Laney raised his camera above his head and chuckled with delight as he captured an image of his almost 2-year-old granddaughter Lea Laney eating a bowl full of Fruit Loops cereal.
“Gotcha,” he said more to himself than to her.
“She’s a good girl,” he added. “She’s bashful though.”
Laney was just one of dozens of grandparents who feasted on cereal, muffins, fruit and other breakfast items Sept. 22, at Kiddie Academy of Lakewood Ranch, as the school hosted Goodies with Grandparents. The Grandparents Day celebration may have been postponed by Hurricane Irma but that didn’t waiver the enthusiasm of the children or the grandparents who took them to school that morning.
“I’m so happy to be here,” added Greenfield Plantation’s Claudia Wrigley, who ate with her granddaughter, Josie Jett, 3. “I’m so honored.”
