Six years ago, John Loughlin asked Jeff Deane how they could honor the Masters Tournament.
At first, the two of them donned visors and long pants and played a round of golf to recognize the famous tournament.
Now, their group has grown, and they hope to work with a charity in the future. This year, 24 players participated in the “Mini Masters” on April 5 at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Course.
“Not everyone knows one another, and by the end of the day, they do, and so it’s just … tradition is part of the theme of the Mini Masters,” Deane said.
Each player received a visor with the Masters’ logo, but only one of the participants earned the coveted green jacket. This year, Bruce Myer won the jacket. Myer also won the Rich Goldwater Mini-Masters Memorial Trophy.
“We conceived this to provide good camaraderie and good fun,” Deane said. “It didn’t matter what level of golf you played.”
