During an Aug. 17 ceremony at East Manatee Fire Rescue's administration building in Lakewood Ranch, Chuck Daughtrey accepts a certificate of recognition for the work the VFW does in the community from Lakewood Ranch Community Activities Executive Director Keith Pandeloglou. Daughtrey and Pandeloglou are pictured above.

It was only moments earlier, Pandeloglou and East County Observer Associate Publisher Lori Ruth had been honored by the VFW for the work they have done in presenting the annual Tribute to Heroes Parade in Lakewood Ranch.

Unfortunately, the 2018 edition of the parade was cancelled due to rain.
