Members of the Manatee County School Board on Tuesday night voted 5-1 to postpone a vote setting attendance boundaries for the future North River High School.

All three of proposed redistricting plans move students from Palmetto, Braden River and Lakewood Ranch high schools to relieve overcrowding there and population North River High School, to open in Parrish next school year. Plans can be viewed on the district's website from the district's Nov. 14, 2017 workshop here.

Board member Charlie Kennedy asked to postpone the vote, noting that many parents he'd heard from on the issue were unaware of the district's meeting and he wanted to give the public more time to attend.

Only member Dave Miner opposed because he wanted the meeting postponed to a date certain and it was not.

The board is expected to have a workshop Feb. 13 on redistricting and then would hold a public hearing on the redistricting proposal afterward, likely sometime in February.
