Happy birthday, Tom!

Longboat Key’s Town Manager Tom Harmer rang in his 60th birthday July 10, though he celebrated a day early on July 9. First, Harmer celebrated with treats during the town commission meeting. Then, that evening his wife, Dee, planned a surprise party at Caragiulo’s in downtown Sarasota. A slight mishap occurred when Harmer arrived at the restaurant through the back, walking right into his own party and not through the main entrance where Dee was waiting for him. Harmer’s sons, Randy and Deryck surprised him at the party, along with friends from his karate classes, former Sarasota County colleagues and current Longboat Key officials.

“It’s awesome because it’s such a mix of people,” Harmer said.
