3200 block of Whitfield Avenue, Sarasota

Burglary: An unknown person or persons cut the lock on the front of a nursery, and then cut an inside screen as well before stealing several small plants valued at $22. Three days later, an unknown person or person cut the lock again and entered the business, stealing nine plants in big pots valued at $120.

VANDAL STOLE THE POWER

13000 block of Swiftwater Way, Bradenton

Criminal mischief: The Sheriff's Office was contacted by a homeowner who said an unknown person cut the power cable to his spa actuator.  The repair of the cable will cost approximately $350. The victim provided photos of the damage. The victim has security cameras but not on the side of the house where the vandalism took place.

SHOULDN'T HAVE WASHED HER HANDS

2900 block of 53rd Avenue East, Bradenton

Lost wallet: A woman reported to the Sheriff's Office that her wallet was missing. The woman had used a restroom in a department store, and had put her hands on a towel dispenser. She didn't realize until she left the store she had forgotten to pick up her wallet. She returned to the restroom, but the wallet was gone. No wallets were turned into the front desk. The woman said she had cancelled her credit cards. She was issued a case number.

BEWARE WHO YOU KEEP OUT

4200 block of Lakeridge Boulevard, Sarasota

Information only: A Sheriff's Office deputy was trying to enter through the gate of a community but it would not open when he used his clicker. An EMS unit arrived on the scene and its clicker also did not open the gate. The deputy went to the main entrance and informed the guard about the problem. The guard said the property manager had disabled the gate because too many people had been accessing the community through the gate. The deputy advised the guard per county ordinance that emergency vehicles were required to have access. He said his manager refuses to return access at this time. The deputy advised the guard the incident would be documented and the gates would be checked. Find could be assessed for county ordinance violations.

THIEF MUST HAVE BEEN BUSHED

200 block of Cape Harbour Loop, Bradenton

Found property: While on a separate call for a burglary, a Sheriff's Office deputy saw two bikes that were thrown on the ground near some bushes at the edge of the property. At the time, nothing connected the bikes to the burglary, but the deputy reported it was likely they were stolen and not yet reported. Both bikes were new and had plastic zip ties for a price tag. The bicycles were submitted into property and evidence.
