HERB DAY PLANT PARTY

Join the Florida Native Plants Nursery for a free herbalism event featuring workshops, herbal teas to sample, and a seed and plant swap. Bring any seeds, herbs and plants you have to trade. Takes place noon to 4 p.m. at 730 Myakka Road.

MEMORIAL DAY AT SARASOTA NATIONAL CEMETERY

A program honoring America's fallen soldiers and their families will take place in observance of Memorial Day at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72. Takes place 10 a.m. For information, call 922-7200.

ST. ARMANDS SEAFOOD AND MUSIC FESTIVAL

Come to St. Armands Circle to enjoy delectable seafood dishes and live music from local and regional performers. Free admission. VIP tent tickets are available for $130 and will offer guests access to an open bar serving oysters, steamed snow crab, shrimp and drinks. Takes place 11 a.m. to 8 p.m both days. SARASOTA MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

The Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee encourages all Sarasota residents to line Main Street to recognize the sacrifices, courage and patriotism demonstrated by our veterans. Takes place 10 a.m. The parade begins at Osprey Avenue and Main Street. A memorial ceremony takes place 11 a.m. at J.D. Hamel Park.

 

FRIDAY, MAY 25

GOODWILL MANASOTA VETERANS OPEN HOUSE

As part of Military Appreciation Month, Goodwill Manasota will present a free Veterans Open House for veterans and their families at the Goodwill Veterans Services Center, 8490 Lockwood Ridge Road. Enjoy lunch and hear from community partners who serve veterans. The event will also offer a look at the newly renovated Veterans Services Center. WORLD OCEANS DAY FAMILY FESTIVAL

Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium’s World Oceans Day celebrates our natural world's greatest resource. The festival will feature educational activities, games and music to promote ocean sustainability and conservation. The family festival is free with regular admission to Mote and is free for Mote Members. Takes place 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information, call 388-4441.
