GENERATE THE POWER

In terms of wielding power -- electrical power, that is -- Sarasota Farmers Market just got a big boost. But, more would be handy.

An anonymous donor gave organizers a pair of generators during a Giving Tuesday campaign on Nov. 27. Also, $926 was raised in cash, to possibly by another machine.

Since moving away from construction to a temporary site at Lemon Avenue and First Street, electrical connections for vendors have been hard to come by.

"So, any additional help would be appreciated," said Phil Pagano, the executive director of the Sarasota Farmers Market. Visit sarasotafarmersmarket.org to make a donation.

JINGLE PAW THE WAY

Jingle Paws Jubilee, held on Dec. 2 and hosted by Suncoast Pet Magazine, was a showcase for all things pet-related at Phillippi Estate Park that drew owners, costumed pets and those interested in adopting an animal.

Hundreds attended with and without an animal alongside.

“Most importantly, the event recognizes and supports the efforts of the staff and volunteers at our area animal shelters and
rescue groups, who work so tirelessly to find homes for injured, abandoned and homeless dogs and cats
in our community," said Candace Both, the publisher for Suncoast Pet Magazine.
