The Longboat Key Garden Club is blossoming into its 50th year.

On Oct. 16, the club kicked off its new season with its first monthly meeting at Windward Bay.

After socializing for the first half hour, members listened to a red tide presentation by Mote Marine Laboratory Scientist Vincent Lovko.
