The Sarasota County Fire Department is offering a virtual ride-along for residents interested in learning more about their local fire-rescue service.

“The virtual ride-along allows personnel to better engage with the virtual community and to give an insight as to what the day in the life of a firefighter may look like,” according to a county statement. “To join the Sarasota County Fire Department on the ‘Tweet from the Heat,’ Twitter users can follow the handle @scgoveoc.”

As the county tweets on behalf of Fire Chief Michael Regnier, those who choose to “ride-along” will learn more about new fire department initiatives, different fire stations and crew members.

SCFD launched its first “Tweet from the Heat” ride-along in November of 2017.

The upcoming fire chief edition of “Tweet from the Heat” will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
