At 5:30 a.m., a group of Sarasotans lined up at 8420 South Tamiami Trail, the site of one of the newest Chick-Fil-As in Sarasota, to get on a bus and volunteer for a day.

In return, all 40 people on the bus were granted free Chick-Fil-A for a year.

Volunteer Esther Nisley said she eats at Chick-Fil-A every day.

"My nickname at work is Chick-Fil-A," said Nisley. She and the 40 other people on the trip were all part of the First 100 Road Trip, which took the first 100 customers to show up around Sarasota County to do various volunteering events, like a beach clean-up at Siesta Key Beach.
