Those who know Seaplace know Ruth Greenbaum, a one-woman welcoming committee. Ruth Greenbaum is one of those rare individuals who never met a stranger and who goes out of her way to help her friends and neighbors.
Because of her many years of kindnesses at the Seaplace condominium complex, owners and renters alike came together to honor Ruth Greenbaum this week. Georgette Abramowitz organized the surprise luncheon celebration, which was held at the Rosemary Restaurant (411 N. Orange Ave.) on Thursday, March 7. There, Penny Gold presented a poem of appreciation and Abramowitz said, “Ruth is the one who brings people together; she helps everyone make friends on Longboat Key.”
Greenbaum was clearly touched by the showing of support and exclaimed, “This is the greatest honor of my life”. Twenty-one women attended the surprise luncheon. Ruth has been an owner at Seaplace for more than 30 years, and is sometimes referred to as “The Mayor of Seaplace.” Ruth, a former fashion model, is known for her lasting beauty and her tireless volunteer work. Pat Lundy, one of her many friends, said “Ruth’s beauty is more than skin deep. She is a woman of substance, beautiful inside and out.
