Dispute: A man staying at a hotel reported that he was asked to leave the property once housekeeping discovered he had a cat in his room. The man said he had been in the property for the past three days and had paid to stay for another four. The man said the cat was registered as an emotional support animal. An officer spoke to a hotel employee, who said he has the right to deny service animals and the hotel check-in forms say no animals are allowed. The hotel employee said he could issue the man a refund for the next four days if the man got all of his belongings out of the room within the next two and a half hours.

7:16 p.m. — 200 block of North Jefferson Avenue
Dispute: A man reported that his neighbor was letting his dogs defecate in the man’s yard. The man said the neighbor lets the dogs out without a leash and they wander into the man’s yard. An officer made contact with the neighbor, who said his dogs only use the bathroom in his fenced-in backyard. The neighbor said his dogs would run away if he let them in the front yard. The officer advised the neighbor to make sure the dogs were on a leash if they were being walked off his property.

8:59 p.m. — 300 block of John Ringling Boulevard
Dispute: An employee at a restaurant said two customers were being loud and using profanity, so she asked them to pay their bill and leave. The customers said they were charged for food they never received and refused to pay. An officer spoke to another employee at the restaurant, who confirmed the customers never received their food. The officer had the bill rectified, and the customers agreed to pay and leave without further incident.
COMPUTER CRASH
10 a.m. — 400 block of Benjamin Franklin Drive
Misc. officer: A lifeguard at the beach needed to back up a truck to deliver a personal watercraft near the lifeguard stand. There were items on the beach in the truck’s way, so the lifeguard said he asked the owner of those items to move them. As the lifeguard was backing up the truck, he ran over a laptop computer. The lifeguard said the laptop was wrapped in a towel, making it hard to see. An officer spoke to the laptop’s owner, who said the computer sustained substantial damage.
