Fantastic year of fundraising

Those in the Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club don’t just spend their days socializing.

The events they hold raise money for their charities of choice — HOPE Family Services, Sarasota Manatee Association for Riding Therapy, Solve Maternity Homes and the Children’s Guardian Fund.

On Jan. 9, the organization presented $47,000 in cash and in-kind donations to those groups during the club’s general meeting at Lakewood Ranch Town Hall.

Women’s Club Publicity Chairwoman Monika Templeman said the donations marked the culmination of a “banner” year in successful charity fundraising. Major fundraisers in 2019 included “Fashion Regatta – Sarasota Style” at the Sarasota Yacht Club, Holiday Market at the Grove, and Holidays on Broadway Dinner Theatre at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club.
The Women’s Club recently added Children’s Guardian Fund as its fourth adopted charity. The Children's Guardian Fund has a mission to respond to the needs of children removed from abusive or neglectful homes.

“The Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club members are thrilled to be able to help such worthwhile local charities that do so much for our community,” Templeman said.

The Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club has 326 members and is a not-for-profit service club founded to improve the quality of life in our community and foster growth and friendship among its members.
