Sarasota County has received funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, to help mitigate the local economic impacts of COVID-19, and according to County Administrator Jonathan Lewis, the county commission remains deeply committed to distributing these monies to those who need it in the most efficient manner possible.
“As of Oct. 30, more than $20 million has been approved for payment to individuals and businesses, and the community could be eligible for up to $75 million total,” says Lewis. “County staff and staff from the office of the county clerk are working seven days a week to process applications from families, businesses and nonprofit organizations to get money in the hands of those in most need, but if you intend to apply, now is the time to take action."
If you or your business were negatively impacted by COVID-19, help is available in the form of individual grants up to $5,000 per household, and small business and nonprofit grants of up to $49,999.99. Approved grants require no repayment.
Coronavirus relief funds may only be used to cover costs that are necessary expenses incurred due to COVID-19 and there are eligibility requirements.
