Michael Saunders listing wins HGTV prize

A home listed by a Michael Saunders & Co. Realtor has gone Hollywood.

Well, Knoxville, Tennessee, at least.

That’s because Barbara Sassen May’s recent Lido Shores listing was named one of HGTV’s winners in the Tennessee-based cable network’s Ultimate House Hunt 2021 monthlong promotion.

More than 1.5 million votes were cast to determine the winners among 66 finalists in eight categories: Amazing Kitchens, Beachfront Homes, Countryside Retreats, Curb Appeal, Downtown Dwellings, Homes with a History, Outdoor Escapes, and Waterside Homes. The Lido Shores home (1435 Westway Drive) was presented in the Waterside category.

The British West Indies style home overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and New Pass with 80 feet of water frontage and a private beach.

Entertaining space is provided with the deeded adjoining lot that includes park-like landscaping and a waterfall. A private dock is part of the property, along with a boat lift and double personal watercraft lift.

The home sold in July for $7.7 million. Built in 2013, it has five bedrooms, six-and-a-half baths, a pool and 5,566 square feet of living area.
