It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at St. Armands Key Lutheran Church. On Nov. 22, church members and staff got into the holiday spirit with a decorating day.
Soft Christmas music played throughout the church as boughs were fluffed, lights untangled and wreaths hauled up the walls. In the fellowship hall, amongst a sea of un-trimmed trees and yet-to-be-hung wreaths, Ann Walborn wrestled with a tree with a section of unlit lights, trying to work the problem bulbs out in exchange for fresh bright lights.
"It's always the section in the middle," Walborn said.
In the front hall of the church, Denise Watermeier, Judy Matthies and Kathy Kussy divvied up large angel ornaments to put on the largest tree, finding the best wings to fill un-fluffed limbs on the giant fir. Outside, volunteers and maintenance technician Larry Romer tied themselves in knots as they worked to untangle the long strings of outdoor lights and extension cords.
