SPD investigates Sunday evening shooting that left two injured

Two people were injured in a Maple Avenue shooting that also resulted in bullet holes in 11 vehicles and two homes..

Bullets hit 11 parked cars and two nearby homes during a Sunday evening shooting at the 2700 block of Maple Avenue. Sarasota police are investigating the shooting that occurred around 8:45 p.m. April 9.

Officers were patrolling the area when they heard multiple gunshots. A short time later, they found a 19-year-old woman who had been shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and later released. Officers learned a second victim, a 17-year-old male, was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.

The victims have not been identified.
