Santa’s helpers were spotted playing golf at the Longboat Key Club the morning of Dec. 12.
Mary Taylor organized the annual Frosty Frolic for the Women’s Golf Association of Longboat Key.
“It's a six-person scramble,” said Taylor. “So, it's a lot of fun because you have a driver and a passenger and that will depend on who plays. Then, you have to switch. So it's very strategic.”
The tournament was made up of almost 180 women from the Key-Niners and the Eighteen-holers groups. Most women have been on the same team for years.
Each year, they put their creative genes together to make different holiday-themed outfits to play in. Some groups also decorate their golf carts as well.
After the tournament, the women headed to the Harbourside Ballroom for lunch. They sat with their teams and bonded over the game and strategy. The group also collected presents to donate for Toys for Tots.
“First of all, everybody does get dressed up so it's festive and it's fun,” said Ricki Harvey, a member of the group. “It's best ball so that means that you don't count everybody's individual score. That gives us a better chance to get a good score. Of course, bringing the presents for Toys for Tots is the most important part, but there is just a sense of camaraderie between all the ladies which makes it special. ”
