Longboat Key will host a workshop this month focused on electric vehicles, charging stations and solar opportunities.

“There are many opportunities for becoming more sustainable in the way we live our lives, and electric vehicles and use of solar energy are becoming more common,” according to a town press release.

Sarasota County Sustainability Program Supervisor Sara Kane moderates the free workshop, which begins at 10 a.m. Feb. 22 at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road.

The workshop is intended to focus on electric vehicles and the infrastructure needed to support them. Discussion will cover the basics of how the various types of electric vehicles work, considerations for those interested in purchasing one and what kinds of charging stations are available.

The session will also include discussion on solar energy and battery back-up opportunities.
